Hi there folks,

I suspect whole loads of folk have this problem if not all!.

SO, I have found this to be a pain in the butt!.

Wifet is/was a Physio & consultants say the same that once you have this Neuro prob you appear stuck with it !.

The reason I find it such a pain is because, as ex computer engineer I cant remember my basic theory sometimes and it like going back to school !.

When reading about this Neuro stuff it tells you that they are still investigating new drugs, but this stuff also causes your arteries to stiffen and logicaly I think that this also causes problems with brain power.

The other cause of concern is that I read on website is that DVLA might cause you problems !!! because of this condition ?.

Anybody know anything about DVLA & neuropathy?.

Cause for concern with rural folk.

Rgds To all.

  • Hello ,

A warm welcome to the online community, although I'm very sorry you have the need to join.

I don't know what type of chemo you're having / have had but neuropathy is a fairly common side effect of such treatments, as is "brain fog".

I've had two separate chemo treatments for separate cancers, first Cisplatin and Vinorelbine for lung cancer in 2014 then, in 2024, Docetaxel for recurrent prostate cancer.

In both cases I suffered brain fog as well as neuropathy in hands and feet which took many months to improve. I still have some numbness in hands and feet as well as cold hands and feet most of the time unless it's very warm in summer.

As far as DVLA is concerned I was never told by my consultants that there could be a problem so did nothing on both occasions. However if you look at the DVLA website there is some information on the requirements to notify them and how to do this. Maybe your consultant can expand on the need to do this?

    All the best,

    Derek.
