As anyone had this mix of chemo if so how bad are sude affects?
My husband was told unexpectedly on Thursday Keytruda immunotherapy did work but after 4 it isnt. I pretty annoyed, as we werent called in to discuss any of this, we though his 3 monthly scans were ok & he was going for his pre treatment bloods etc then having keytruda the following day. He went through all the bloods etc then called into docs room as normal. She had a pretty lengthy chat ie how are etc all ok no symptoms. Then bang she said sorry yours are showing disease progression, which to us we thought it had spread! What she meant was the primary lung had grown & the spine met had grown, I think, as when I asked what size the bone met was she didnt know, as nothing to compare to.
On account we were both numb with shock, not much was asked. Was given a bundle of papers about treatment every 3 wks & takes 4/5 hrs to be given & after that I think she mentioned 4 cycles of something & something about maintenance?
I'm literally clueless as isxmy husband, who shuts down when he walks into the Marsden.
But after that shock, I'm feeling quite angry this wasnt an appointment purely to discuss scan results & next treatment. We'd have been prepared, instead both shocked, feel sick & hes gone off his food through anxiety.
He is on a STRIKE trial, so once that news was given he was then carted off to go through the STRIKE trial part, which I think was totally unacceptable. They could see how shocked we both were.
He was on keytruda from April side affects fatigue, nausea some vomitting, but that settled. It was mostly fatigue that would come & go.
So I'd love to know anyone who as been on this chemo hes now starting Friday & if anyone can explain or have an idea about 4 cycles/ maintenance?
I have left a message on the lung unit that I want to talk to his oncologist ( she wasnt there Thursday) another doctor was. Has we have questions & also Thursdays a blur to explain again what was said.
