Hi Today I had my 2nd round of chemo & immunotherapy for stage 4 womb cancer. I used cold cap on 1st round, which seemed to have helped as I still have most of my hair, although started thinning quite a bit from weekend just gone. I used cold cap today, but after going too loo and having to be plugged back in after carboplatin it stopped cooling as not reconnected fully. As I was a bit knocked out and kind of zoned out on head pressure I didn’t click for a while and didn’t get it working again for nearly an hour (had paclitaxel for that hour) Keep cold cap on for another hour at least.
So question is, was this a complete fail or might it still do some good? I am going to get Wig/head covering sorted ASAP in preparation for further thinning and now more likely all going. I am just thinking that as reports tell me cold cap helps with re growth, less damage to follicles and less likely to have permanent hair loss, I might still continue if all hair goes. Any thoughts or experiences on any of this?
Also, I read elsewhere paclitaxel should be given before the carboplatin (this was case for me on 1st round). Anyone have any advice on this before I speak with CNS/consultant?
Sorry for the long post!
Hi Rackelsi
I have just responded to your other post re this.
Just a thought but I wonder if the immunotherapy drug has an effect on the order of the chemo drugs? Best plan is to ask your consultant. In my experience paclitaxel is normally given before carboplatin but there may be other reasons why the order could be different.

They did gave me the carboplatin last, after paclitaxel on 1st round. I wondered if nurses decide to swap cause of the cap time, but may not have checked that with doctor, so I will ask CNS specialist tomorrow. Nothing they can do for that round, but at least know for certain next time. I will update as I think it will be helpful for others too x
