The day has come, first session of 6, Carboplatin/Paclitaxel this morning @ 9.30am, I’m advised about 3 hours.

Obviously I’m dreading the unknown of what the side effects are going to be for me. I’ve picked up lots of tips from all you lovely people on here.

Enjoy your Bank Holiday Weekend everyone.

  • Hi

Hope it all goes smoothly for you. Sending hugs.

  • Hi

All the best with your treatment-I’m glad you’ve decided to go ahead with it. Please try to remember that everyone is different when it comes to side effects, so don’t automatically assume that you will get some or all of them-you need to be advised of the possible side effects when you consent to the treatment, but it might be easier than you think to get through.

  • Do hope it went well and my side affects kicked in day 4 -8 ( chemo day 1) but were manageable and I felt great in week three . My second session yesterday .
Best wishes and my bloods were very good too after session one so my immunity was probably normal.
    best wishes B

  • It was a very long day, there for 9.20, left at 5.20. I didn’t Opt for the Cold Cap either, I think being post hysterectomy and on with chemo and probs radiotherapy I’ve enough to contend with. Nurses were all lovely and answered by ever growing questions. Other than a slight hot spot at one point where the cannula went in it was all plain sailing, they adjusted the flow and it soon went away.
Added bonus of being fed and watered too, didn’t expect that.
Fate was meant to happen and the lady sat across from me was my old school friend, I never recognised her (very poorly indeed) but she recognised me, I was wondering if I still look 15 at 57 years old Joy

Had a good nights sleep, woke up to an extremely red flushed face, rang the 24hour helpline and they told me it was a reaction to the Carboplatin and to take a Piriton and 2 paracetamols every four hours and to ring back at 7.45pm to see if it’s settled (hasn’t as of yet at 4.40pm). One question they ask is for your temperature, just typical I can’t find my thermometer. Shall try a neighbour before I ring back.

Regarding my biggest fear of nausea, too early to say because they told me to take sickness tablets for 2 or 3 days anyway so that might be masking it.

Thanks ladies, I hope you are all keeping well and able to enjoy the bank holiday.

I know this is the calm before the storm and I will probs get brought down a peg or too in the next couple of days.

Any food/drink recommendations to help my immunity?
