Numb Toes

I've had 3 and a half chemo sessions.  The first was ok.  After 9 days, I started to feel good to do things. I collapsed during the 2nd session so only got half a dose.  I had the 3rd session and was just tired but turned round after 9 days. They changed the concoction for the 4th session.  I was ok for 3 days then started to feel like I had an electric current running through my veins.  Felt dreadful, was incapable of doing anything and one toe on each foot has gone numb (next to  littte toe).   Today is day 9.  The electric current feeling has eased.  I'm ok if I lie in bed but when I get up, I'm wrecked.  My toes are still numb.  Should I worry about the numb toes?  Not sure what to do.  The internet says it's normal but is it likely to get worse?  I've started using some pedals (mini exercise bike) to get my circulation going.  One toe seemed to ease but it goes numb again later.  Any advice?

  • Hi again Madmozza......Peripheral Neuropathy (Nerve Damage)is indeed a normal side effect of treatment...... I certainly had it bad in my hands...... but keeping hands and feet ward and exercising them regularly can help.

Do keep your clinical team informed about this as there are situations where the can change your drugs to help.

You don't say what type of cancer you have........ The Community is actually divided into dedicated Cancer Support Groups (Discussion Rooms)………… so If you care to have a look through this link Cancer Specific Groups you will find all our dedicated cancer support groups listed.

These groups are safe places to talk to others who may have a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support from members who are navigating the exact same journey.
