Hello I was wondering if anyone has had those letters from the government regarding being very vulnerable, I thought I would get one being on chemo but I haven’t do far.
Just wondered if it said anything on them that we don’t already know about isolating and being careful?
I am also really worried that my chemo will be cancelled, I’m just about to start cycle 4 on 6/4.
Stay safe everyone x
Hello Gemmary
I completed all treatment for breast cancer 9 months ago and so was very surprised to receive the NHS letter for vulnerable people. I would very mush like to know why I received the letter as I don't feature in the list of people at risk from the virus.
Any information or help with my query would be much appreciated.
Many thanks
Hi esperanto that is a question for your medical team of GP.
I am 4 1/2 years post treatment but I do fall into the very vulnerable group due to ongoing immune system problems and the type of treatments I had...... but there is a lack of understanding where all the information is coming from and it looks as though it is different with regards to where you live in the UK.
Thanks for speedy response Thehighlander - I called GP and she intimated that some letters being sent to people who do not feature on the list to meet the criteria for 'vulnerable'
I think that you are correct in assuming that it depends on your post code although this is confusing and stressful - it must mean that the letter has gone to well over the 1.4 people in the original estimate?
Stay safe and well :)
I got the government letter to register on Thursday as well. Speaking earlier in the week to my trial team nurse who rang (I am on the AddAspirin trial) I queried this, and got the impression that some of it is down to the GP who wrote the letter. Perhaps they have to make a judgement of risk vs their capacity/ capability or that of the local area. I have not long finished chemo, less than 3 months when this started, so that might have been the deciding factor. Having spent a week with appointments only, a week in isolation and two weeks in strict isolation, somewhere I (and 111 and GP) think I have managed to pick up the virus. So I am still having to be strict until told otherwise. I must admit, if this wasn't covid, then I definitely do not want to catch it!! See my other post for details if you wish.
Stay safe all
