Hi all, can anyone who has had carboplatin/etoposide chemo tell me if they suffered cracked split skin around sides of thumbs or fingers. I have just finished my 6th cycle of chemo (Finished now),and last couple of months had very sore cracked split hard skin especially around sides of thumbs. Tried all manner of creams even Gerwohl medicated salve for hard cracked heals! if anything, creams make it worse. Any advice on what to do about this will be very welcome. Iknow it sees like a minor detail but is very sore and unsightly,am going on holiday for a week very soon and would just like them to feel better Be good to yourselves Jaunty
Hi jaunty
I know how painful split skin around the fingers can be and I've only suffered from 'winter cuts'!
I haven't had chemo, so not had this experience, but I noticed that your post had gone unanswered. Could I suggest that you also post this question in the lung cancer group, which I see you're a member of, as there may be people over there who can help.
If nobody is able to come up with any new suggestions for you then you could post your question in ask a nurse and one of the specialist cancer nurses will reply within 2 working days.
I do hope that you can find something to soothe your fingers and that you have a lovely holiday.
