My husband has had round 6 of 8 chemo and suddenly struggling to keep fluids down, food has been an issue since treatment started but this is a new thing, does anyone have any suggestions as he doesn’t want to go to A&E.
thank you in advance
Do you have an emergency contact number for your Oncology team. I carry a card which gives me direct telephone access 24 hrs to a Specialist Nurse.
If not contact your Out of Hours service as they may be able to arrange for someone to come and administer an anti sickness injection
Best wishes
Hi Mitzi10
i rang the number on the card and they said he had to go to A&E so that’s what I did. They weren’t particularly interested but gave him fluids IV and then said he could go home and to contact the medical team treating him. I am furious that the book was passed and I am left to care for him it may just be my exhaustion but it seems to me like nobody is bothered & just expect me to be his permanent nurse/carer and to cope with everything this horrible thing throws from diagnosis to side effects with no support. I’ve had no sleep after driving backwards and forwards all night and here I am still “on shift”
sorry for the rant but it’s been a long night. Thank you for your reply & best wishes
