Hi all
My mum has recently been diagnosed with cancer, lung cancer, bone cancer, and she has two lesions on her brain. she had three seizures the other week as her pain level has got too high and now she's not the same person she was.. I have never dealt with any of this in my life I'm 49 years old my mum is 75. I am the closest sibling to my mum and I'm struggling with all this I don't know which ways to turn my brain is not functioning properly my mum is becoming very forgetful very confused and it's all happened/happening so quickly in the last month. I have issues myself with mental health and painkiller dependency I just don't know how to deal with this I try to set things straight in my mind and they go jumbled up again I'm trying so hard my stress levels are that high it's giving me migraines I really don't know what to do I just feel like a spare part and just want to curl up into a ball and hope it all goes away but its not going to I struggle to talk to people about it as it's just mumbled up in my mind.
I don't know if it is the lesions causing this or if it's the new medication for the cancer or the seizure medication that is doing this to my mum. Mum has a new thing now of ringing me at stupid hours of the day example 2ainin the morning and I got a little bit upset with it and had to go with my mum and now I feel bad but I dont want to feel like this I know it's not her fault as it's everything that is going on to her.
Obviously this is not all of my story I don't even know how to write it all any advice would be fantastic
My sister passed away six years ago bowel cancer that had gone to her brain..she was fivety....I took have struggles withy mental health,I've a diagnosis of bi polar and upset and stress is a trigger...so I do understand how things like this can utterly overwhelm you.My sister used to ring me at all hours too ,often confused ,I always took the call no matter what time it came in,sometimes she would text and again I'd always respond.I would hold everything together in her company and on those calls, and in front of our mum.and dad ,and fall apart in private...I ended up back on medication again once she'd passed away .
You will get through it,you think you can't ,you look back and wonder how you did but you do because you have to.I know we all hate the phrase be strong...but you have to be.
Sending hugs You are dealing with a lot. Could any of your siblings offer to help so you can look after your mum together. It must be so scary and stressful for you. Hoping tomorrow is a better day for you xx
