Hi,
My wife was diagnosed with PMBCL last year in September 2024. It was stage 1 bulky (in her chest)
She has RCHOP14 with her last treatment being in Feb 2025. PET-CT scan in Feb showed her in remission. The professor dealing with her case seemed very confident another scan isn’t needed for another 12 months. Around June time she started to experience a heaviness and dull pain in her chest - obviously this worried us. The oncology team initially asked us to see a cardiologist to write off any heart condition. This was done and after heart tests, they confirmed no heart issue. Therefore the next step was for another PET-CT scan. Once again the results came back clear. The nurse and prof said the pain could be from scar tissue.
since then the pain has been somewhat consistent and in the last week she’s experienced night sweats. I contacted the oncology team and they said to see a cardiologist again (which we are next week) once this comes back all clear we have another appointment with the professor in December as that’s her regular 6 months blood test. The nurse did say the night sweats could be serval reasons - anxiety, the body flushing the toxins out or blood level regulating.
it feels like a never ending cycle and it’s super difficult for me to see my wife who was a social butterfly being a shell of herself. Just wanted to get some advice from people who have gone through something similar and a steer as to what I can do better to help and support my wife.
Hi Aaronaa7fc2
Welcome to our community, I hope you find it both informative and supportive.
I is so hard when our loved ones appear to be playing department bingo at the hospital, with Janice she was being seen by gynacologist, heart, lung and even liver before she ever even got referred to oncology.
Perhaps the best thing we can do for our loved ones is to listen to what they say and being there for them. However something I needed to do for me was learning to cope with my own emotions and I did a living with less stress course with Maggies that was really helpful.
<<hugs>>
Steve
