When you are the next of kin to someone who is in so much pain, unable to eat, extremely weak. How do you think about all of thier needs and preferences and look after them as best as possible and advocate to them to doctors.
How do you ask them thier preferences for end of life , so it is as good as it can possibly be.
When my head is completely all over the place.
Hello. I have been in your place, with my husband, who died last year.
Macmillan, Marie Curie and others have advice and examples of advance directives for treatment and care. I wonder if it might help you to look at some of these, as they may give you some specific questions to ask your family member? Or even go through them together? I understand that this is painful for everyone, but at least you will be as clear as you can be as to their wishes, which will allow you to advocate for them should you need to.
It worked for us. Sending you strength and best wishes.
