Hi, we are 1 year 8months post diagnosis for my husband. He is near the end of his life. As if this sh*t show cancer fu**er hasn't done enough, he has developed terminal agitation.(Google it) I've never heard of it before. He is confused, talking nonsense, wanting to get up...early this morning He was quite adamant he was taking the stairs to go back to bed, he's been provided with a hospital bed in the living room and I have to help him pee into a bottle, but TA has convinced him he can do the stairs and when I explain he physically can't he gets angry at me, there's no reasoning when he's so confused. This disease is so cruel.
Hi Larra1
Sorry to hear about your husband, it sounds quite similar to how my dad was towards the end of his illness but at that time he was in a high needs care home so we we were not really in your position at all.
Hope you manage to find some time for you too.
<<hugs>>
Steve
Hi Steve, our community nurse team found him a room at a hospice, we were transferred here yesterday morning. They have him pain free and on meds to relieve the agitation. Fortunately he is not aware of his surroundings now with no response to verbal or touch stimulation. This is a blessing for him but agony for me. As he is only 48 his heart is as strong as an ox and won't let him pass yet.
I hope my experience with community nurses and now hospice care team has been as exceptional for them as it has been for Colin and I
