Nasal cancer.

Hello all,

My husband was diagnosed with nasal cancer in December and it has spread into his brain. In January, before any treatment he had a massive seizure and I thought I had lost him. He has had 6 weeks of intense radiotherapy and is now in week 7 of recovery. No news yet as to how the therapy has gone. He is very tired and showing signs of depression. He doesn't want to do anything. Very tired all the time to be expected.  We both feel very isolated and he can be very mean with his words.

I just don't know what to do?

  • Hi

Welcome to our community, I hope you find it both informative and supportive.

I can understand how you thought you might have lost your husband, with my wife we came close with a major sepsis incident - and that was even before she was diagnosed though in her case with a very different cancer - Leiomyosarcoma.

My understanding of radiotherapy is that is continues to work for some time after the actual treatment ends, waiting to see how things may be progressing though is really tough.

One thing I had to learn with Janice was taking care of myself if I wanted to be much use to Janice. What really helped me was when I decided I needed some help and walked in to my local Maggies. We do have a tool here that can help find support near you (and/or the hospital) if you enter your postcode here

That feeling of isolation is also very common, despite us knowing cancer is actually quite common it is not so often something we talk about, there are some useful tips here.

    <<hugs>>
