Hi all new this the forum.

My mum was diagnosed with what we this is metistatic Breast cancer which has spread. This is her second time have cancer. We are waiting for her oncology appointment which is this Thursday to find the ins and outs.

I am driving myself crazy catarphozing about the situation. I am one of 4 and the oldest. Although we are all grown up we are very much a tight knit family. I have a brother with Down Syndrome who doesn’t understand what is happening. Three of us still live at home.

My head is all over the place.

  • Hi

Welcome to our community, I hope you find it both informative and supportive.

My experience with cancer is via my wife who has Leiomyosarcoma so something different to your mum but I recognize a lot of my early experience in what you say. It is very easy to get in to the catastropic mindset and if we look at your feelings when someone has cancer I know I recognize a lot of the emotions I went through. I find it helpful though to be able to recognize these and accept them as normal as I find that can help to make them less overwhelming.

Do post on here whenever as someone is always listening and somehow we manage to help each other.

  • Hi Musicalsmad

As Steve said, welcome to this community - I am sure it's something we never anticipated but I hope you will find support as you navigate these crazy weeks and months.

. My husband has metastatic bowel cancer which has spread and after the initial diagnosis it was a challenging period for us and for our children (who are 20 and 24).

I don't know if it will help but I keep telling them and myself that whatever you are feeling is alright and somehow we get through the days.

    Sending virtual hugs
