My mum has dementia- trying to explain her treatment options for colorectal cancer is heartbreaking and continuous. Does anyone have any experience with the aftercare of surgery which will result in a stoma bag, chemo, and radiotherapy for a dementia patient?
Hi Missy67
So sorry to read about your mum, I can only imagine how difficult that must be though I can relate to some degree with my dad through his decline and the challenges we had whenever he was in hospital.
I am sorry I do not have any real answers for you but by sending a reply I will bump your message back to the top of the list so hopefully someone with more experience might answer. It might by worth while posting in the Anal cancer forum as there may be some people with experience there who might not follow the carers forum.
<<hugs>>
Steve
Hi Missy67
I can’t imagine how difficult this must be for you-my mum in law has dementia and I can see the effect this has on the family. I’d like to suggest a couple of other groups for you to have a look at and post in since you have mentioned colorectal cancer and a stoma.

I hope you can find some helpful advice-I have 2 stomas myself so I can appreciate it would be daunting to be dealing with a stoma when other issues are involved.
