My mother was diagnosed with Colon cancer in August 2024 but because she had a couple of mini strokes and had a heart condition the doctors said that she was to delicate and weak to receive chemothepy. We were referred to palliative care team in the community. At first the palliative care sounded great in terms of keeping mum comfortable and managing her symptoms, but unfortunately I feel it snt lived up to what we were promised. I feel like we are not listened to and the management of her pain hasn't been great. It's so hard to see your loved one suffer.
Hi M3ll0w
Sorry to read about your mother, chemotherapy can be really challenging and can in some cases makes things worse rather than better so it is understandable that might not be a sensible option.
Pain relief can be something of a balancing act too but from what you are saying it seems there may be some way to go.. You are so right though is is difficult for us to see our loved ones go through this. Somehow sharing on here seems to help a bit knowing we are not alone.
<<hugs>>
