My husband has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer (lung lining and pleural cavity). Oncologist has said treatment isn’t an option due to my husband’s health. Our world has been turned upside down, I’m not a stranger to care work but having to do it for my husband is something else, I’m so overwhelmed by everything at the moment and I’m finding it hard to cope.
Hi Trixee
Welcome to our community, I hope you find it as useful as I have.
One of the challenges when we take on care for our loved one is that we can find we are now working 24/7 and often on top of a paying job too - sometimes we can end up losing ourselves but that does not really help anyone.
Your husband is entitle to a needs assessment- see here and at the same time you might like to get a carers assessment.
I find lots of the advice in your feelings when someone has cancer quite helpful as recognizing the feelings and accepting them as part of the new normal can help make them feel less overwhelming.
<<hugs>>
Steve
