Hi

Don’t really know why or what I’m writing on here. Am sat in the hospital waiting for my partner to come out of Brachytherapy:

he only told me one month ago about all this  although he has been through lots of stuff over the last 2 years with getting a diagnosis but now is starting to get worse so instead of monitoring needs treatment,

He doesn’t want to tell anyone which I understand but I also haven’t told anyone so in one sense it doesn’t even feel real but obviously it is. Thought it might be good for me to reach out on here I guess as may be people going through similar stuff . Know it would probably help me to talk about it,

The good thing is he is relatively young, 48 and it is early stages so really hoping this will be a cure.

im not sure I really believe it is happening if that makes sense.

if anyone has any wise words or similar experience I’d love to speak to you.

thanks so much for reading this xx

  • Hi

A warm welcome to our community, so glad you found us with the wonders of this forum allowing us to reach out and support each other.

Sometimes people worry about how they will be treated if they reveal a cancer diagnosis especially if they are on watch and wait.

From what you say it seems likely the cancer got picked up early and that is good news.

My wife's cancer is very different and her treatment has not always been as smooth as we might have liked but she is still here over 10 years after diagnosis and her cancer has been stable for many years - living with cancer rather than anything else.

What many on here come to realize is that we have to remember to look after ourselves too if we are to be the best for the ones we love. Talking on here can really help and the helpline can be really useful too.

    <<hugs>>
