My husband was first diagnosed with osteosarcoma in 2022. He has a recurrence earlier this year with lung metastasis. The latest reports show that the cancer has spread to different parts of his body. His chemo had to be postponed as doctors suspected organ damage. Now his prognosis says that he has got weeks to months (max) to live. The cancer cells are spreading faster than anticipated. I don’t know how much accurate the prognosis is and whether I should prepare for the worst! I’m already feeling helpless!
Hi In the end
Sorry to read about the chemotherapy being postponed, do you have any idea of how long it might be before a decision might be made. Of course they do have to be careful with chemo to try to make sure is does more benefit that harm.
One of the issues with a prognosis is that it can be a sort of genie that cannot be put back in the bottle.
I found quite a lot of help in your feelings when someone has cancer quite helpful, recognizing the emotions as valid and normal can help to make them feel less overwhelming.
<<hugs>>
Steve
thanks Steve, unfortunately he recently had Covid so the doctors are not discussing chemo at the moment, rather focusing on his mental/ spiritual wellbeing and where he wants to stay in foreseeable future. They also gave an indication that radio/immunotherapy, clinical trials etc would not be feasible options x
