Hi all, I've posted here before. My mum has advanced lung cancer with brain mets. We're waiting for genomic test results to inform the treatment plan. It's taking so long and I feel that we're just waiting rather than living and enjoying the time that we have left together.
I read that less than 10% of patients have a mutation which means targeted treatment is possible. We've been waiting for 4 weeks. I'm wondering what's the point and just feels that my mum and I are wasting valuable time that we could be spending together.
Hi Footymum
Waiting for results, scans and all the rest is probably one of the most difficult parts of this whole process. Does your mum have a clinical nurse specialist, it might be helpful to have some idea of when you might get the result and of course then there is likely to be a team meeting to discuss a treatment plan.
We do have some advice on waiting here that might be useful and in the meantime I hope you do get to spend that time together.
<<hugs>>
Steve
