Had bad news today. My mother who has a brain tumour since September last year has been given 4-12 weeks to live. Without the operation we new it would of been 4-6 months. With the operation we've had her an extra 8 months. It's just so sad and a shock even though we knew it was coming. I'm getting married in 4 weeks time and the consultant has told us to bring the ceremony forward. Which we are trying to do. As she was so excited about it. Sadly due to the tumour she has detonated and her mind is going. But the sad thing is she knows she knows she's confused. She says she's so frighten and I don't know how to console her. I'm worried by bringing the wedding ceremony forward it will upset her and make her panic. But some of the time she is aware of what's going on the other time she isn't. She is my best friend and I don't know what I'm going to do without her. My hearts broken.

Your mother certainly sounds like she is a strong lady having been through so much already and I am sure she will have raised you similarly. Perhaps the most helpful adage at a time like this might be "hope for the best and prepare for the worst". I am sure some element of the wedding with already reflect your strong relationship with your mother but whatever she will be there in your heart.
My wife's dad died a few months before we got married - over 30 years ago now. However the total delight in his face when we announced our engagement is a memory we can both treasure.
