Mum is 90 And currently on oral chemotherapy for CLL
she is near the end of her second cycle and is thinking of stopping . She says she’s feels so awful, hallucinating and generally off her feet
I respect any decisions she makes ( she is of sound mind) but I’m finding it difficult to understand what happens . Will her white cell count just rise again rapidly .
I’ve suggested she talks to
mcmillan nurses ( she hasn’t been referred) but seems to think
they are just there for end of life. I’ve explained to her that this is not the case and they offer support .
I live some distance from her so this for me can be a stress and I don’t know if the doctors will speak with me .
I understand they have to respect patient confidentiality.
i feel at a loss at the moment to know what is best.
Hi Craftygran
We have a group here Ask a Nurse where we can ask questions of some of our nurses and of course you can always ring the helpline for advice.
If she will allow it and you can it may be worth seeing if you can accompany her at an appointment, generally the team will answer your questions when the patient is present and often having two people in the room can be very helpful.
<<hugs>>
