Alendronic acid tablets

My husband has Stage 3 lung sclc.  Following a CT lung scan [after chemo/radiotherapy] he was found to have a wedge fracture in his lower spine.  Osteoporosis was suspected and daily Calcichew [chewable calcium rich tablets] and weekly Alendronic Acid tablets have been prescribed.  Has anyone here have any knowledge/advice on the latter please?

  • I don’t have much knowledge but I also have started  these 2 weeks ago for sacral insufficiency fractures in tailbone. 
    I have stage 4 lung / liver mets ( Neuroendocrine Carcinoma)

    Thanks for replying VeeB.  They're the oddest meds he's had so far - having to remain upright for 30 minutes after taking it is strange.  I wish you all the best and lots of hugs for the future. Regards, Zebra
