Hi, husband diagnosed with brain tumour on Christmas Eve. Been struggling to deal with this huge change. Initially they said radiotherapy and chemo best chance of extending life and keeping him well although it sounded a scary short prognosis, but just found out yesterday that they have re-reviewed his case and are going to do surgery first. They say they can’t get all of it out but will try for as much as they can. We have pre-op next week then all being well operation should be week after. I swing from feeling positive to despair and all sorts in between but trying to be strong for him and his elderly mother. But terrified about basically everything to come. Thanks for reading.
It is really good to hear of some positive results. Hubby finished radiotherapy yesterday (30 sessions) and took final chemo tablets of this cycle last night. Now we have the waiting. scan booked for 2 weeks time and then consultation 2 weeks after that so its going to be a nervy month. he is very tired and has lost some hair, but the side effect that is getting him down is that his sense of taste is totally off so he is finding it hard to eat as most things taste bad to him. They have prescribed him some nutritional drinks to get some goodness in him as he has lost quite a bit of weight. hopefully things will calm down over the next couple of weeks. keep the updates coming it is so good to hear from other people at different points of a similar journey. much love and positivity to all xx

Hi, hope all is going well? How was your husband through the 6 months chemo did he have many side effects? how long until your next check up? my husband had his scan yesterday so we now have a nervy 2 weeks until our consultant appointment. he is much the same otherwise still very tired and his taste and smell still really bad so eating is difficult. the hospital dietician has given him some supplement drinks which seem to have stopped his weight loss. i'm feeling pretty knackered and low and stressed with it all myself this week to be honest. 4 months today since his diagnosis and just can't believe how our lives have changed so much. xx
Hi
my husband has just finished his 5 days of oral chemotherapy (month 4). He is not doing too bad at the moment thank you. He is very tired at the moment. He finds that after about 2 weeks post tablets he gets his energy back.
his appetite has improved although he gets weird tastes every now and again.
He is booked for another scan in June, that will be the 6 month point. There is another meeting with Oncologist on 14th May prior to getting the next chemo prescription.
I hadn’t realised how exhausting this process is and still feel guilty about being frustrated. We have an agreement to tell each other if we are annoying each other then we just move on.
We are 7 months post surgery and diagnosis.
i forgot to add the scan results on, my sieve brain is getting worse.
Hubby was told that the tumour has shrunk!
the surgery and treatments have been very effective.
I hope this is the same outcome for you all.
Take care of yourself. I’m so grateful for this group so we can try to support one another.
Big hugs xx
My sieve brain is getting worse:
we had the scan results in March and my hubby was told that the tumour has shrunk!
The Consultant was so happy and said it doesn’t happen often but looks like the surgery and treatment so far have been very effective.
I hope this is the outcome for all of you too xx
Hi, thanks so much for this update. I am so pleased for you both that things are going so well and your consultant is so happy. We are 4 months since diagnosis as it was Christmas Eve so are a bit behind you.
I am trying to keep calm until we go back for the scan results and hear their plan. i so hope it will be positive news.
If only his taste would settle down so he can enjoy eating again I know that would really cheer him up. Cooking nice meals together used to be one of our joys. He has a lot of stomach upsets too which they think could be more to do with his diabetes medication (also diagnosed on Christmas Eve) so we are going to ask if that can be reduced as his glucose readings have been so stable.
sometimes i hugely miss our old life but this is where we are isnt it so i know we just have to do the best we can.
thanks so much again for sharing, it really helps especially as you are a bit ahead of us on the journey x
