Can anyone help me please......... My husband has been diagnosed with lung cancer and we have an appointment on Thursday to discuss chemotherapy. I'm also a carer for my elderly parents. My mum has dementia and my dad has his own health issues as well as living with mum 24/7. My job is a community support worker so I find myself being one of my clients. Hi Daisy_21
Sorry to hear about what is going on for your husband especially on top of caring for your parents too. I am sure you will already be aware of needs assessments and carers assessment. I try to help people in my workplace but I find I need help too and while I absolutely recognize everything our support service do I find it next to impossible to do without their support - probably a case of two minds are better than one.
A really important lesson I had to learn was about making time for myself. you may find some useful tips in Looking after someone with cancer. Talking (or even typing) can be such a positive help too.
<<hugs>>
Steve
