I'm Martin
My partner has a mastectomy scheduled in less than 3 weeks, with a likely 6 courses of chemo to follow, plus radiotherapy after that.
We have two beautiful, but sensitive, daughters, aged 12 and 14.
Rationally I know we.will get through it and out the other side. What choice do we have? Practically I am doing my best to prepare. Emotionally I have no idea how any of us are going to get through.
All advice appreciated
Hi /Martin
Welcome to our community though sorry to hear about your partner and of course the effect it has on your entire family.
Our lovely friends on Breast cancer forum are really helpful and full of useful information and there are people there at all stages of every kind of treatment.
Focusing here more on you for a second if might help to look at looking after someone with cancer. One thing many on here comment on is the emotional impact on us. I did a living with less stress course that really helped me.
For your girls is might be useful to look at Talking to children and teenagers, and if you can share with their teachers too. They will probably surprise you with how strong they can be.
Do post on here whenever, someone is always listening and we understand because we are somewhere in this mess too.
<<hugs>>
Steve
