So here we are carers, some of us carers for someone with a terminal diagnosis, on top of that there’s covid, jobs, kids, parents, pets, life.
But... in those weird times, with all that waiting in hospital, all that watching over someone, have you picked up a new skill, hobby, learned new recipes, anything?
Or are you planning to?
So basically with the aim of keeping a sunny ball running, here is one thing i can do now which i could not do beforehand:
- I can now knit socks (handy to cart around whilst waiting for appointments. Engages the brain just enough to be soothing, and it is useful)
Hi , not directly related to learning a new skill but some years back I decided to try my hand at cross-stitch. My first effort was a little teddy bear and I did ok but the back was a bit of a mess.
One time when Janice was waiting for a bed in the women's centre I was passing the time sewing some napkin rings - the nurses were absolutely fascinated and looked after me really well as well as my wife.
Perhaps the best project ever though was getting one of our wedding photographs digitised and turned in to a pattern - hanging above out mantel the project has pride of place.
I have always found cross stitch to be a great way of staying calm while waiting around in something I just get on and concentrate.
<<hugs>>

Hi 747 most of the waiting time has been spent reading. I've been devouring books but then they are my thing.
Not a new skill but amidst this chaos I have somehow managed to finish writing my next book. (I'm an indie author as well as all the other roles you listed) I'm now snatching time to proofread and edit ahead of my release date early next year. It's great distraction from the real world.
src60 I used to cross stitch too but haven't done any for a long time. Very therapeutic until the threads get tangled into a knot!
