My husband has muscle invasive bladder cancer. He was diagnosed last October. I the last three weeks he has really gone down hill he is now not really eating or drinking he just sleeps all the time. I have a palliativ care team to support me but gosh it's hard nursing a man you have been with for 50 years and just watching him die. Anyone else out there been through a similar thing
I’m in a similar situation and mine other half is now under palliative care - for me it’s the helpless feeling heaven I’m giving 24/7 care
following radiotherapy and several courses of chemotherapy the cancer is still spreading. Now he is always uncomfortable and trying to control the pain
the up part is that we are together and supporting each other xxx
Yes it's tough but you do what you can to support the one you love. Good luckxxx
My husband is currently in the hospice. They had been trying to get him stable to come home, and I've had the hospital bed installed etc, but today he was very weak and the consultant sat me down and said they will probably begin end of life care in the next day or so. This is the hardest thing I have ever had to do, and I am taking it literally a minute at a time. All my love to you.
I wanted to write this post, as when I was in your position 9 months ago I searched for someone to tell me I would survive it and couldn’t find anything.
My husband died of oesophageal cancer in September 2019, we had known he was terminal for 13 months and I slowly watched him disintegrate before my eyes, in excruciating pain, eventually unable to eat or drink.
He was the love of my life, but in the end I knew he had to go. I won’t say the last 9 months have been easy. But in some ways the anticipation of the loss was not as bad as the reality. I still miss him bitterly, but I function, I have times when I am positive and above all else I survived the intensity of the grief.
It is still early days for me, but I hope this helps in some small way.
Sending you love and hugs x
My hubby is already finding it hard to eat and appetite is awful. We've just found he has a temp of 37.8 and not started chemo so have booked a covid test. Means chemo will be cancelled Monday.
Thank you for your reply, I am so sorry you went through this. I just hope it isn't a long painful process for him.x
I’m so sorry to hear this, I hope you have some good news about the COVID.
sending you lots of warm wishes x
