Sorry I know many are going through the same thing as me in this group but these last few days have been tough and  I feel so numb yet raw. My dad has been took into hospital  and hes very poorly. It started off as prostate cancer, now in his liver and now its causing problems with his bladder and kidneys. My mum is elderly and obviously I feel I have to be strong for her but inside I feel so helpless and vunerable. My dad and I have had a difficult relationship at times but he has always helped me through the tough times, specifically my divorce.  I feel like I dont know how I will cope without him when the worse happens. I m sorry I just need to vent xx

Hi there, vent away, we all need to at times. Don't ever apologise or think that just because others are going through tough times too you don't have reason to feel everything you do. Hope you are getting some support from all the relavent places, macmillan give amazing support should you feel you'd like to phone them and could point you in the right directions xxx

    Hi Ester

Welcome to online community and to the carers only group please never apologise for coming on here to vent your feelings this is a very safe place to come and let off steam, rant or rave or just come in for a chat we are all very friendly and really supportive towards each other because we know how hard life becomes in a situation you find yourself in, we've all been there and know exactly how you feel and never judge anyone who expresses their feelings.

You, I think, need to speak to someone about your feelings and vulnerability and I would like to suggest a few places that might help you find support.

If your dad is in a large hospital you may have noticed a Macmillan Information Support Centre near the entrance, this is a good place to go into to have a chat, it's not just for  cancer patients but also for relatives to obtain support. If the hospital doesn't have a centre when you open up the link above you will see a section where you can enter your postcode and you will be given a list of support available to locally.

Another support centre we suggest is a Maggies Centre and if you open up the link and enter your postcode hopefully you will find that there is a centre near you where you can pop into and have a chat about your feelings etc.

At anytime you are feeling down pop yourself in here and talk to us, getting things out in the open is a good thing as you probably realised when you put your feelings down in your post to us. There is always someone around to reply to you, just being able to chat to someone in the same position as yourself can help you. We all have problems and feel the same but when we come here we have the same objective which is to support each other and share experiences.

You can also speak to our telephone support team on 0808 808 0000 and have a chat to them they will listen to you and might be able to point you in the direction of other support. The team is available every day between 8 am and 8 pm.

Always here for you when you need a chat.
