Feeling overwhelmed

Hi I’m new to this. I care for my 82 year old mum who is recovering from treatment for a brain tumour. I work full time and I’m finding it hard to balance the two.

I've pretty much moved in my parents (Dad has restricted mobility) to care for mum. I currently get one night a week at my home, on a good week.

Is there any help and support available? I’m starting to find it overwhelming and I don’t know what I can do. I’ve been getting by since January when this all started but I thought it would be better by now.

Thanks Amanda

    Hi Amanda

I am so pleased that you've managed to find your way over to the carers only group and I'm sure the other members and myself will be able to answer any questions you may have in the future.

I hope that the information that I gave you in your initial posts was useful, if you would like me to expand on it in anyway or I can be of any additional assistance please give a shout out and I'll do what I can to help but in the meantime do speak to mum and dads GP and fill in the contact form to arrange a needs assessment for them. If you haven't already done so think about applying for Attendance Allowance for both of them, it's not charity, it's an entitlement to make sure they can get help with outside carers or whatever they want to use it for. It's not mean tested and they won't have to pay tax on it.

The names The BODACH Please use it to give me a shout out if you need help accessing anything and I'll be pleased to help

Please make sure that you look after yourself.

    Ian
