Hubby now has to have radiotherapy for a cancerous lesion in the 4th vertebrae ( end result of having prostrate cancer, radical prostatectomy 5 years ago and then some cancer still remaining and now spreading to bones) - he has had this before as a young man in the 1970s but I am guessing it is not so very invasive as it was then. He is in his 70s now.
Any advice how ill this will make him, how much support he will need? I know it sounds crass but we are a good hour away from the hospital and I have to think of how long I can leave the pets ie do I need to always drive him there or will he be ok on his own. Will he be able to eat normally, have a normal routine? How long does the radio take ie a morning / afternoon/ few hours?
He I relieved to know what the problem is as of yesterday ( scan over two months ago) and that there is treatment but basically gets very depressed - and he is Scottish so the cure all for that is to drink! Not helpful when he has umpteen meds to keep cancer at bay.
