Hi im Jane,

I've recently had 2 lletz procedures but just been told I now need a hysterectomy  One of the concerns is . ..  Will this be the end of it? Or will I need further treatment? How honest have they been with me? As they said removing pre cancerous cells. Which turned out to be cancer then remove more pre cancerous cells which again was cancer!! Now it's a hysterectomy.  . . So what's next??!!

  • I know exactly how you feel. I had STAGE 4 BOWEL cancer - large bowel was removed 18 months ago, which left me with a STOMA - 9th December, 2024 the cancer had spread to my liver - had an ABLATION 26th February this year - thought all was ok, until results of a blood test - it took them over 3 weeks to drop the bomb shell - I thought no news was good news - so on 24th November I will be going for a CT scan which they want to use CONTRAST DYE - which I will refuse to have. I just can't believe what is happening to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for the somewhat negative reply, people keep telling me to be positive - what a joke.

    Take care

    Mia

  • Sorry to hear that Jane. As far as I am concerned, we are just hospital numbers now. The NHS is in a mess and my experience whilst in hospital was not good. 4 days in INTENSIVE CARE where it seemed like nobody cared.. then I spent another 2 weeks in a ward - there were no plugs for the sink in the bathroom, no cold water to clean my teeth, nowhere to put your damp flannel and towel, just had to hang them on my bed... also no bins to put your rubbish in, stuff was piling up on my table/tray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You obviously did not suffer like me!

  • Hello Mia (

Thank you for sharing your journey - I am so sorry things aren't going well for you, yes your replies are quite negative and I think you just have been delt a bad hand.

I nearly died 4 years ago and the reason I am here is both to share my story and to help others. Yes I didn't suffer but the first time I was in hospital (no surgery involved so it's not relevant here) a consultant tried to discharge me saying I had a UTI, not cancer and CKD 3!!

I do know where you are with folk telling you to be positive and when you have issues and your treatment isn't going well it's not good. I would say though a positive attitude and trust in your team and treatment plan can go such a long way.

I have a very different cancer to you (Prostate Cancer) but I can tell you there are other cancer specific groups on the Community you can join, share your story and receive support from others going through the same problems as you, here's a few links for you:

Ileostomy, colostomy, urostomy and any other stoma support and

Bowel (colon and rectal) cancer forum and

    Secondary liver cancer forum

If you click on the links I have provided they will take you to the groups.

I hope the above will help you along on your personal journey. If I can do anything else for you please do get back to me.

    Best wishes - Brian.
