Cancer spread

I am being treated for bowel cancer and have been since Apri.... 7 sessions of chemo but halted 2 months ago to allow body to clear of chemo prior to an operation to remove the tumor adjacent to the bowel.Ct scan yesterday  21st August now showing some cancer cells on the exterior of the liver, so it has spread to liver from bowel.plan is to give me more Chemo to try and halt the cancer progression to any other organs. I am very concerned about my life expectancy. Media and Google suggest 12 months to 2 years if cancer stays where it is and not spread . with treatment longer can be expected  perhaps 5 years

Has anyone had similar experience and can provide an insight on the above

Thank you

  • Hi

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and I'm sorry to read that you've recently been told that your bowel cancer has spread to your liver. It must have been a tremendous shock for you.

As you know, the online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the bowel cancer and secondary liver cancer groups as you'll then connect directly with others who have the same type of cancer as you.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
