Hii am currently having chemo and have been on the same treatment for nearly a year.I don't want to say what the treatment is or where I'm being treated just to stay anonymous.
The consultants want to stop the treatment but don't give a reason why,it is working and parts of the cancer is now imesurable
queuestion is can they do this?
There is only 2 reasons as far as I can see, 1 is because they are pushing me to go on a clinical trial, the other is simply money.
The short question is can they do this?
UK born and bred tax payer, not old,not stupid.
Thank you.
I’m sorry to hear your treatment has been withdrawn. I find it inexplicable that no reason has been given, a proper explanation is the least you should expect. From what I know the doctors cannot be compelled to give you any particular treatment if they don’t believe it to be effective. I think you need to press them for answers so you can make an informed decision on what action to take. I insist on a open and honest dialogue with my haematologist and that means sometimes the news is good and sometimes bad but I prefer total honesty regardless, unfortunately sometimes you have to press them quite hard to get answers as I think they want to protect you from bad news.

The treatment is effective.
This time last year I was in hospital and given 2 weeks to live, the doctors done their rounds in the morning and just stood at the end of my bed and said sorry.
Now they say the cancer in places is unmeasurable and in other places they can't even see it.
So as I said there is only 2 reasons I can think of.
I want to know if they are even allowed to stop the treatment.
I'd understand if it wasn't working.
Also I don't agree anyone wants to.protect you from bad news.
My experience of the NHS is they treat you like you are their property.
I was told i HAVE to have an organ taken out,the woman was a nasty piece of work,I complained and never got a response, she demanded I signed away the organ on the spot ,she said if you don't do it YOULL DIE. I didn't do it,I'm not dead and I still have that organ (I'm not giving anything away as I said I want to remain anonymous.
I have a whole lot of complaints but I won't go into them,I just want to know if they are even legally allowed to just stop my treatment without a valid reason.so far there is no readon given.
I’m sorry to hear you have been treated in this way. It’s sounds as though you need some advice from somebody professionally qualified to answer your questions. There is a organisation called the patients association which might be able to assist you in getting the answers you require. I understand your desire to remain anonymous and therefore won’t ask for any details of your condition, however I wish you all the very best. I have terminal blood cancer so understand the pressures of living with a serious illness and have also been on the receiving end of some unnecessarily unthinking treatment.
