    Hi moomy,

I went to clinic yesterday but the scan results were not ready :( actually the whole clinic seemed to be over booked and I had to wait almost 3 hours before seeing the doctor.

I feel exhausted again today and have the prospect of treatment on Friday, I think the humidity is making me feel worse, we haven't had any rain in Sheffield yet, I do feel for the people in Cornwall

I'll try to settle down to some sewing this evening, thanks for the blackberries, will enjoy those and pop some cheesecake into the pantry for later

    Love n hugs xxx

  • Hi Moira,

Been busy so haven't replied, sorry :( hope any treatment has gone as well as possible.....

Yes, the humidity gets to me too, so glad it's been a bit cooler the last day.

I've put yet more blackberries, not many though, and some blackberry syrup is in the fridge to pour over ice cream, it's yummy and made very fresh. I boil the fruit gently with some sugar to taste, then strain and boil the juice for 5 minutes, to concentrate it a bit, removing any scum before bottling it.

The faeries have put some scones in the cake tin, and clotted cream in the fridge, bless them.....

Hope to pop in tomorrow if I've the chance, off 'oop north' to help packing, daughter is, at last, moving. Hope it's Thursday.....

    Hugs xxx

    Hi Moomy,

You are a wiz in the kitchen! Your daughter is very lucky to have you, my mum made delicious cakes and flapjacks, and scones every week, I miss her baking now and sadly haven't picked up her talent :( she always said I would miss her baking when she had gone and she's right!

As for treatment, I had it yesterday and feel like I've been hit by a ton of bricks! It will pass but I'm seriously considering stopping it, will have to discuss it with family and docs :(

Where is your daughter moving to may I ask?

    Moira xx

  • Hi all,

Moira, she's moving from near Macclesfield to Henley on Thames, quite a distance!

We spent last evening doing lots of wrapping, I'm exhausted already!

Faeries, wish you could help pack!

    Hi moomy,

Has your daughter moved yet? Maybe she will be nearer to you?

I'm slowly recovering from treatment, but woke very early this morning and had something to eat and then back to bed again!      Very rainy now, think it will be a quiet day today, maybe a bit of food shopping this afternoon for essentials.

Sister and brother-in-law are visiting tomorrow for lunch, all being well we will go out but need supplies just in case!

Hope all is well with you and daughter

  • Hi Moira,

Recovery from treatment takes it out of you, rest up as you need! Hope it helps and you get well soon!

yes, she's moving from 150 miles away to around 40 but that's as the crow flies, awkward journey, but hey, it's nearer! She has a hair appointment and then a scan at the hospital, a couple of lumps that don't look suspicious, are probably slight hernias, but we always worry, don't we? She's well otherwise though.

I've had today off from packing, and as I most likely won't be visiting Macclesfield again, went to the silk museum and had a tour, fascinating! If any of you are this way, do go, it's really good!

Faeries have made a pot of tea, how wonderful, time to put my feet up for a good rest, it stopped raining and is so humid to do much....

    Hi all,

Just popped in to see what is happening. I've brought a blackcurrant pie made from fruit in my garden, and some cream.

All is well up here in Cumbria. Busy as usual.

Hope everyone is enjoying the summer and hope it is as sunny where you are today as it is here.

  • Hi Lynda,

Good to 'see' you here, and glad that all is as ok as possible. I'm 'oop north' myself at present, daughter's moving day is tomorrow, there has been such a lot to do, I'm exhausted, going home for a rest tomorrow!

I would have said about there being runner beans to spare as we have some at my place, but I guess hubs has been picking them (at least, I hope so!)

Hey ho, not a lot left to do, thankfully, and when I couldn't help organise I've wrapped and cleaned as we've emptied rooms.....

Hope the moving day goes well and you are able to rest afterwards.

  • Well that move went as well as it could, the removal chaps were pleased to see how well organised she (we!) were, and the colour coding for the boxes and items of furniture.

Me? I helped as much as I could, and comforted her lots, the house she has left was done up as far as her funds allowed, but hid a few possible future problems, built into the side of an abandoned quarry which is apparently beginning to show signs of collapse well away and above, but still a potential problem in a few decades.

She had decided that (as she'd been told she wasn't going to survive) she would either die there or at our place, and felt that the house and the village together with her music, had helped her survive and she really felt torn. I pointed out that this was shutting the door on a period of her life and the house and village had helped as a part of her rehabilitation (you can't walk anywhere without having to go uphill steeply!) so she felt comforted.

And I came home on the train, so tired I was afraid of falling asleep in case I missed my stop! Hubs was pleased to have me back!

A glass of wine, dinner and bed very soon, methinks!

    Hugs to all xxx
