OOer a hot tub, if I had known that I would have been in sooner, hoping everyone is as well as can be, its been a while since I was last here, and I am sorry for being away so long, how are you all?

We have been making the most of life, had a good year last year, house jobs done short holidays away with family lots going on with the family, we are now empty nester's as life moves on for our boys as well, but I can hear you sigh and some thing's not right, since before Christmas, hubby hasn't been well, 3 lots of antibiotics for what we thought was chest infection, xray and emergency scan in Jan shows something in his lung, hoping it was just! infection, but 2 months on he is no better and has pain in shoulders he needs painkillers to get relief to sleep with, lots of other niggles as well, so phoned our lovely cancer nurse and he will be seen this week, hugs needed am afraid, as like most of you recurrence or further problems are not far from your mind. It is just 3 years since diagnosis, and the torrid time of chemo, surgery and long road to recovery. Hoping this is just a blip and he will be well again soon and we can continue with enjoying his early retirement and things being easy again.

  • Hi Polarbear,

Sending you those hugs you need.....

Yup, it was decided the lovely 24/7 needed a hot tub just outside, with a flexible cover in case of inclement weather, access to lots of big fluffy towels of course, the glasses for wine etc are a type of plastic in case of accidental breakages as one doesn't want broken glass in the water!!

It's still a lovely comfy room with the same deep sofas, I sometimes pop in to hear gentle snores, just ensure that the faeries have made sure everyone has a warm fleece over them!

Some leek and potato soup is in the slow cooker if anyone wants some before their main course tonight....

    More hugs for all xxx

  • Hi all, hugs from me too Polar Bear. The soup is just what I need Moomy. I have another rotten cold.  Still hadn't got rid of the cough from the last one that did the rounds. Hurry up back summer I say so that we can all say goodbye to the awful virus that seem to have hung around this winter. Got tub sounds good bit this drippy nose would just raise the water level too much!!

I think I shall just have the soup and a glass of wine and snuggle up in a fleece. The log burner is making it lovely and toasties in here.

    Love and hugs

    Maggie xx

    Thank you, Moomy and Maggie,

I needed those hugs, we have been to see the cancer nurse today, and bloods done and scan being organised within 2 weeks, another appointment to see the nurse in 4 weeks unless we hear anything in the mean time, lets hope its just the lingering chest infection and the winter blues, and we can get on enjoying life, it makes you feel quite vulnerable.

A dip in the hot tub sounds good and relaxing just what's needed, its so nice to have the fluffy warm towels to put round you when you come out, I've put some English whisky in the cupboard for later, from our trip to Norfolk, not sure how it compares to the Scottish variety, but i'm up for a tasting session if anyone cares to join me.

Otherwise I will be under a blanket, or perhaps under the table if I have too much whisky x

  • We are about to bottle some home made white wine from a very posh kit, will leave a bottle in the fridge and make sure the cork is loose!

Made some traditional baked beans tonight and am sure there will be some left over, please have a taste!

    Hugs for all xxx

    Hi moomy,

Looks like I missed the wine and dare not eat the beans, really bad things will happen lol.

Been a little bit lax in my posting last few weeks, up and down emotions, mostly up thankfully but the downs are a bummer as you all know.

Washed my hair yesterday and was horrified at the furball in the plug, tried to blow-dry and threw my brush across the room in disgust at the results. Of all the things I can moan about with incurable cancer and my hair is top of list, stupid but true.

I have taken up making bread and cakes to while away the long days so expect some tasters for quality control, the one thing I am doing well on is eating thankfully but of course all the wrong things like fresh cream iced buns, I am weaning myself down to one a day haha.

Going for some retail therapy tomorrow, well actually today now but who's counting, days and nights intermingle now. May even buy myself a stand mixer and bake extra for my local care home where I worked before I had to leave from I'll health. I really miss the residents.

Anyhow am rambling now sorry, I hope everyone is doing as well as they can be and sincerely hope there is a good day ahead for everyone, even if just a small step forward in this horrible battle.

    Hugs to all xx

  • Hi Rose,

To be honest the baked beans weren't that amazing, lol, so you didn't miss much.....

Sorry that days and nights are mixing up, and the news about your hair, too, what a bummer. Hope you have some lovely scarves and hats to keep you warm, even if the weather is warming up I know you will feel the chill.

Going to do some baking today, will have a thumb through the recipes to decide quite what........watch this space, haha!

    Hugs xxx

    Hi Rose,

Hope you managed some retail therapy today, is your hair falling out because of treatment?

I remember my first chemotherapy 8 years ago and I was having a meltdown and my friend asked what was the worst thing about the treatment and all I could say was my hair!!

It's so personal, and changes our body image.

Hope you can spend some quality time pampering yourself as well as baking, maybe a manicure or pedicure?  Or what about the "Look good feel better" session that is offered at some cancer support centres?

    Hugs, Moira xxx
