    What a beautiful evening, hope everyone has enjoyed some sunshine today. Feeling much better today!

    Lovely lunch and catch up with a friend and a great evening walk in the hills with Gav while boys at hockey practise.

    Came in to see if anyone has made any bread today, have popped some ham in the fridge and butter in the dish on the side for people to share, hoping there might be a new loaf just out and ready to eat warm.

    Carol, give Polly a tummy rub for me and whisper to Bond through her tummy, tell him I wish I could have him.

    Gillian hope you are continuing to grow stronger.

    love Jakki xx

    So glad you are feeling better Jakki. Just been for a little walk round the block, it is cold as the wind has not died down. Such a shame as it would have been a lovely day in the garden but for the wind.

    Sorry no fresh bread here as yet, imam working up to it. Maybe next week

    Right my lovelies, know we have lots of mums on here and honourary grans/god mums (Carol), so parenting question;

    My eldest wants money for the cinema tomorrow, he gets £10 per week for tidying his bedroom and I have paid him £5 to peel and chop veg for tea tonight; he says I should give him the bus fare 'cos you're always moaning at me to get off the computer' Now I have told him we are happy to take him if he asks us (at the moment he is a bit of a stubborn 15 year old) but if he wants money for the bus (I get that he wants to go with his mates) he needs to cut the grass, it is a small lawn on front garden.

    My aim is to get him to understand the value of money, I don't mind that he doesn't have a part-time job cos D of E and Hockey take up some of his spare time.

    Sorry to hijack chat but I am a bit out of my depth with teenagers (steep learning curve) and wondered what your views were? What did you do with yours and money? Am I being too harsh?

    BTW he is an absolute darling so hope you don't have the impression that he isn't, he is just very hormonal at the minute

    Thanks guys

    Love Jakki xx

    Dear Jakki

    I am probably the last one to ask being a doting Grandma who would probably give them anything they wanted if they were good and hard working! But I do agree they should understand the value of money.

    I Think I would probably set up a rota of little jobs to do so that he could "earn" enough to have these outings without always having to ask for the money. Trouble is they do need a social life outside the computers and to learn to get streetwise but it is all so very expensive. I used to give my daughter her family allowance but with that she also had to buy her clothes except school uniform.

    It is so hard to keep up,with the cost of everything with teenagers but worthwhile if they are loving kind and polite xxx
