Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • I have a miniture dauschound who think she's a great dame and a dauschound cross jack russel , he's good as gold.they are the best company.  Shame you can't have one.

  • Aw I love sausage dogs and Jack Russells, they're so sweet.  Eddie has a JR called Poppy and he sent a photo of her a while back.  It's gutting not being able to have one, but there's still so many applicants to keep and it wouldn't be fair to leave one alone for several hours; plus I'd be fretting the whole time.

Do you have someone to mind yours or they ok to leave for a while?  They'd obviously keep each other company.  I can just imagine them curled up together xx

  • Thankfully I work from home, when I have to go out for work there only by themselves a couple of hours. I live with my 2 boys. So there is always generally someone in the house.

Not sure how there going to be mind when I have to go into hospital,  I'll cross that bridge when the time comes x

  • If your lads are old enough to be by themselves, they probably won't mind until they get fed up with cooking and washing. Lol!  You might have wondered why on earth I typed applicants - I didn't, it was meant to be appointments but my phone went haywire earlier and predictive text must have come back on.  Anyway, do you have an early start, even though you WFH?  My fella had set hours when he did but his boss would know if he wasn't working, and they had regular zoom meetings.  He took ill health retirement recently, so doesn't have to worry about it now.  I like him being around all day so it suits us both, thankfully xx

  • Hey Knat.  I've just noticed a PM and it might be from my friend whose poor dog's unwell.  I'll go look and then come back xx

  • Yes my boys are old enough to look after themselves.

I got the just of what you was supposed to typeJoy predictive text can be a pain at times.

I start at 8am , and have a visit to attend at 9am. to be fair work have been amazing if I don't feel up to going out I don't have too.

Great that you both are at home together and not have to worry about work. X

  • Hi again,  I'm back and thankfully all's quiet with her dog.

I'm glad your work is being understanding as it's something less to worry about.  Eddie's right, you've got a really positive attitude to your situation and that will really help in every aspect.

Are you going to work right up to your op, or finishing soon so you can get sorted out at home and such?  There's usually stuff to do xx

  • Morning

I had an early night but sat and read for a while. I woke up again before 3am and came down just before 4am. I've had my first cuppa!

We're going out for lunch today to a restaurant called Bouy & Oyster in Margate. I got a voucher from my son & DIL for my 60th in March.

  • Morning Helen.

I'm hoping knat's asleep now as she's got work in a few hours.

That sounds lovely, going out to eat.  I've never tried oysters as I'm not sure I could stomach them, just cos of how they look. I do love seafood in general, so hope you get something really tasty you'll enjoy.  Bonus that you don't have to pay for it!

I'm thinking about putting the kettle on myself and maybe if I make a hot chocolate, it'll work it's magic and get my bleary eyes to shut!

Righto lass, I'm going to try for a couple of hours myself as it's starting to get light outside.  Enjoy your meal out and breathe in the fresh sea air, you lucky girl.  Hugs xx

  • No oysters for me, I’ve never fancied trying them .
