Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • I know I did the right thing offering her an out, because this chemo is really starting to wipe me out and I really have little energy to get out and do things and go on trips like we used to... we recently booked a two night break just a 3hr drive from here, in August,  but I wasn't even looking forward to that either...

I just hoped she'd insist she would see it through to when I'm hopefully feeling better again. Disappointed relieved

  • Beyond belief.

Save all your energy for yourself and Maggie now.

  • Good for you!

I feel very envious! My dog 'went' a few months ago, and I'm really missing her.

  • Hi Steve.  Sorry for the late reply but we were at the hospital all morning for exercise class and a review, nothing unsavoury.

Well, I'm floored by that about Maggie and can't put on here what I really think.  What I will say is thank goodness that sweet little dog has got you instead of your ex.  Dogs give unconditional love, exactly what you need right now.  I'm sorry the break-up was sour but best it's over for all concerned, especially as you've got all the other stuff to deal with.  How are you doing my friend?  I'm hoping the treatment's not too challenging and rest up as much as you're able to.  If it's difficult to walk Maggie, maybe friends or neighbours could do the honours?  If it was possible, I'd do it in a heartbeat as I fell in love as soon as you posted her picture - super little doggy.

Take good care and remember we're here, all the day long.  Hugs to you and Maggie xxx

  • Hi Big Stevie, just wanted to give you a great big virtual hug

I have been following your journey and cannot believe the actions of some people.  I am appalled

You go and give that little dog a big cuddle, thank goodness she has you to take care of her.  She will help you through this that's for sure.

Wishing you the best of luck xx

  • Hi Steve, Good for you! Of course you won’t be taking Maggie back to the pound! Also I’m sure there will be plenty of volunteers around offering to take her for a walk until you are ready to do it yourself, you will have to send some of them away! If I lived near you, I would get my son or daughter to walk her for you!

  • Hi Deb11,

You are very kind calling her a “woman” I could think of a few other choice words!!

  • Morning Annette.  I love your posts; to the point but funny and you've brought my first smile of the day.  Steve's ex has got a few of us in high dudgeon, unsurprisingly, as many of us here have had to give up things that are irretrievable.  However, unless it was impossible to surpass, none of us would give up on a loved one, no matter what the circumstances.  And when it comes to a vulnerable little animal, say no more...

PS I know what Debs really thinks - unprintable!  Now you have a good Saturday and get your feet up when you can.  Hugs to you and yours xxx

  • Morning Gill, I’m pleased I brought a smile to your face this morning!! My pleasure! I know who would never be able to smile again if I got a hold of them and it definitely isn’t Maggie, that’s for sure.

It is not a good start to the day for me today, I haven’t slept yet. I’m hoping I can get my head down for an hour or so now maybe! I hope Everyone (with the exception of one!) has a terrific day!

    Love Annette x

  • Aw Annette, I'm not smiling but laughing now!  You've got a gift with words that cheers the soul.  Try to rest my lovely as you need to catch up.  Sending love xxx
