Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • You flatter too much, kind sir, but some don't - MiL and especially those I've pulled up over their awful behaviour towards animals. My threats to a future jailbird did pay dividends as it secured the safety of our treasured little rabbit for the rest of his life. We both still miss him, tremendously Sob xxx

  • Sending love and hugs Gill xxx

  • Thank you Julie, love and hugs back xxx

  • You did make me laugh at not holding the hand he uses for his walking stick!

I hope you’ve maybe managed a bit of a snooze this afternoon.

although I always wake several times in the night I generally keep going back to sleep (unless I’m worrying away at something or other).

mindy, my cat, is making her disapproval of me staying in bed too long in the mornings very clear Smirk cat, even trying to to pull my duvet off me

even if I’m awake I find it it increasingly difficult to actually get out of the bed,

  • I also smiled when Gill mentioned hand-holding. It is supportive in more ways than one. I walk with two sticks, so no hope for me. A&E nurses sometimes bundle me in to a wheelchair when they see how slowly I walk and realise their shift ends in a hour's time. I'm convinced that they are staring at my bald patch when they are pushing me at thrilling speeds along endless corridors. They do often hold my hand when they see how fearful I am of having an arm emptied. I live alone, so I sort of treasure those moments Grinning.  Ray x

  • Hi Rose Rose

Aw, that's so cute - little Mindy making mummy get out of bed. I hope she also enjoys getting in with you and curling up alongside.

I did have a snooze thanks, and not long woken up. Same as yourself though, I'd rather stay put but my own version of Mindy will need feeding soon, so a coffee should rouse me before heading for the cookhouse. It's a pity I can't offer OH a pouch of KiteKat to save time and effort.

Hope you and Mindy get some relaxing in this evening sweetie xxx

  • I keep saying this, but you lot really blow me away with your strength, humour and support.

  • I think the thing that bugs me and my wife is the sense of restlessness and needs for distraction. I'm sure it's understandable.

  • Know what you mean

I do the cooking. Maybe if mix Pippin's wet food with some spices might be okay.
