Are you having trouble sleeping?
Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.
“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

Evening Jamie. I know you're awake now, so just to say I'm made up for you hon that all seems to be going well You sleep as much as possible as it will do you the world of good. Put the decorating on the back burner for now as you come first and that can wait. You've had the busiest time lately - treatment, babies, a new role - what a week! So, get those zeds in at every opportunity champ! Warm hugs and thumbs up coming your way xxx
Good evening, Gill.
Thank you. I guess it had been a busy week and I think I just rolled along. Then it hit me yesterday and makes sense why I suddenly hit the zzzzz. Last week really was a week of non stop positive things happening.
I will promise i will take it a bit easier this week. Xx
You do that sweetheart as you really do need to rest up. Don't try to respond to posts if you're tired as you've got a troup of night owls, and day birds, to hold the fort. Not to mention the two rulers of your house, who might get crabby if their dad gets too tired to play! xxx
I wont answer once o drift of. Got my usual podcast lined up for the night in an hour. Then ear phones in and try to settle again. This is an amazing group and I love the fact we do actually talk and chat about anything and everything too xx
Hope you’ll sleep well tonight, Jamie. Your body knows when it needs to rest and sleep is the best thing when you’re recovering from your treatment to get you ready for the next one.
Sarah xx
Me too Jamie. Since Homebird sent the link last week, I've been looking at other podcasts and found some really interesting ones. My problem is I get so engrossed that I don't nod off, which defeats the object, but it's a great way to learn things.
I'll let you settle now champ, as it's almost care time for OH, so rest well and sleep better if you can. Night sweetie xxx
Hi Gill
I get engrossed too when I’m listening to podcasts and if they keep me really interested I’ll be awake for hours! I might see you later-hope things are well for you and hubby.
Sarah xx
Thanks Sarah, and I'm hoping the same for you and your hubby. OH has got ENT this Wednesday and I always get the jitters, dreading what all the prodding and poking could reveal! I'll keep myself in check till then.
The podcasts are brilliant - thanks Homebird - and I've found some really good ones on history, both old and more recent. At least if they don't send me off to sleep they're giving me some extra knowledge, all good for when we watch TV quiz shows! xxx
Doing ok here thanks Gill. Hope the appointment goes well on Wednesday-I’m always anxious about appointments of any sort but try not to let it get to me by thinking too much about it beforehand. I have worked hard on trying not to ask the question “what if…” and just focusing on what is the situation now, right at this moment.
I was smiling at you getting new knowledge for quiz show use-that’s an added bonus! I’ve always thought it’s good to keep learning new stuff, no matter how old we get. I am really interested in history in general, but I read a lot about specific times in history-I have a few really good books I’ve read a few times on the role of women-life as a Victorian servant, and women in Tudor England, that sort of thing. Just fascinating. My particular area of interest is the Holocaust, so I’ve got loads of books on that and done a lot of research and learning.. There’s always something more to know!
Got my eyes tested last week, so I’ll be reading more when I get my new specs. I’m finding I’m holding things at arms lengths to read stuff nowadays so it was about time I went to Specsavers!
Sarah xx
