Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Good evening. It sounds like you have both been through a lot over the last couple of weeks. Sepsis takes an extra toll on the body. It seems the care and treatment is working if her blood test are showing signs of improvement.

I would see what each day brings (easier said when filled with worry) and hopefully over the next coming days, there will be some answers to the type of cancer and what options of treatment might be available.

It hard to see those we love, really unwell and we feel helpless at times too as we just want something to make them better again. Sending you both my best wishes and hope tomorrow your mum is starting to feel a bit better. Finger crossed Fingers crossed

  • Jamie, you've given some fantastic support tonight, both to new and established members, but you need to sleep too hon. Why not try for some rest as you've got a busy week ahead? I'm happy to stay on and try to support others too, so my suggestion is for you to hit the hay. Big hugs my friend xxx

  • Hello Delrita and welcome from me too.

I'm so sorry to hear about the cause of your anxiety, but thank you for sharing and if you'd like to expand we're here to listen.

    Sending you hugs sweetheart xxx

  • It's not a problem at all Jamie my lovely. Now you do what you have to and prepare to be a brilliant grandad xxx

  • Hi, results are in. Consultation done. Stage 4 metastasis

  • Morning Cabinet. So sorry to hear this hon. Will this mean ADT or other treatment?

Jamie's probably still waiting for the birth of his first grandchild, but you can talk to me if you want to xxx

  • So sorry to hear that. I'm stage 4 and on palliative chemo. The first  drug stopped being effective after 10 months so I'm now into my second month on a different drug. I had my first CT for this treatment and gets the results on Thursday. I'm hoping for good news. My symptoms seem to have improved, but the side effects are a lot harsher. I appear to now be in the habit of waking around 4am, and my mind won't switch off. I usually listen to "a comfy, old " audio book, but it just finished, so I tried music for a bit. Catnapped only. It'll have to be a cooking show then, that may help send me to sleep, it's sufficiently dull.
