Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • I awake even though trying to sleep

    Having a warm drink  tonight.

  • I hope the warm drink did the trick for you. A day or two ago I commented that my sleep cycle was getting out of phase with day/night. Yesterday I forced myself to go to bed at 11pm. I took a while to go to sleep but at least I got up at 9am next day. Success!! Today I've hit a snag. I got absorbed listening to music on you tube. Thoroughly enjoyable - then I looked at my watch... 4-24am.  Oh. Words. Suppose I'd better go to bed. Good night, and I hope you all have a decent day tomorrow (um later today). Ray

    • I hope you managed to settle down and got some sleep. I struggled till about half 1 then then woke about 3 times. Which is one of the better nights so far.

  • Morning Ray, or maybe afternoon when you read this. I dozed off around 12.30 am, which is quite early for me, then woke at 2.30 am, fully refreshed. It took an age but I did eventually nod off again.

I've come to the conclusion I must be a reincarnated cat - therefore catnapping is the norm as I usually doze for around an hour a couple of times per day. So, I'll accept my lot and adopt the name of Kitty, my granny's elderly lap companion and sometimes mine, as I was one of the lucky few she never clawed or bit.

Hope you got some quality sleep Ray, hugs from Kitty xxx

  • Haha. I think the same now. Cats are awake all night and sleep all day. Well mine do. Elijah and Rebecca before my diagnosis I noticed they had started to want to sit right on my lap and face me, which they started to do a lot more in the 6 months before I knew....then Elijah was started to stress groom and we didnt know why? As nothing had changed in the home...but he was really getting bold patches...anyway since kidney is out, he is now my shadow and his over grooming is stopped...he still wants to be at my side and Rebecca now comes in every morning which is new for her too and check on me. I just though I would share has I think they knew before I did and cats often get over looked as uncaring but my little babies knew and still know I am not fully well xx

  • Hello

there is a country song which fits the mood

Not only that - I love the messages you get with music too. I have the radio on all day in the background (at my age one playing 60's - 90's music) but if I ever feel low or down I stick

Tubthumping by Chumbawamba on my CD player at top volume - you can't beat the kyrics:

"I get knocked down - but I get up again - You're never gonna keep me down"

That's my go to tune!! (yes I do have bad taste in music Innocent).

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Morning Jamie Blush I'm positive your lovely cats knew too, as animals are extremely perceptive about their human's health and it's often been proven they pick up on it when something's amiss.

Aw, gorgeous Elijah and Rebecca, looking after their dad. Cats often get a bad rep but I reckon the ancient Egyptians had got it spot on. Cuddles for your feline carers xxx

  • Top choice Brian - uplifting to the max! Big hugs xxx

  • Nothing wrong with your music choice. I grew up listening to Doris day, bette Midler, marlin Monroe and the 60s and 80s. But my heart does belong to country. Growing up everyone in the family thought it strange as I never listened to modern music even then haha. I have so many for my go to it all depends on the day.
