Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Excellent Thumbsup xxx

  • Gosh. We've gone a whole day with no posts. Hopefully you're all OK.

We had a walk this morning then I prepared some stuffing balls for Christmas day. I've watched 2 Christmas movies and crocheted this afternoon.

  • Hi Helen,  I'm glad your foot checked went ok.  How was your friend's last radiotherapy appointment?  Hope it went smoothly.  Did she ring the bell?

We're in Lincolnshire for the week.  Went to Belton House today, saw a couple of Stags 'rutting'.  They took no notice of us watching.

  • Sorry about the checked (bloody predictive text).  You know what I mean though.

  • Evening Helen.

Yep, hopefully all's well out there. I don't think my day's been quite as exciting as yours - the highlight was finding the TV mag was out a day early. Top that to get the juices flowing, although talk of stuffing balls is a contender.

I like Christmas films but OH usually slopes off to kip rather than watch them, with his face tripping him. Bah humbug! xxx

  • Every time I see the words 'stuffing balls' I get a shiver down my spine!

  • Hi Steve. She's OK but a bit sore after the radiotherapy. I'm not sure if she rang the bell.

    Enjoy Lincolnshire.

  • I can imagine Steve Sweat smile but only because I'm associating them with men's lower portions. You're most likely thinking of something tasty to accompany turkey.

Loving the photo of the stags - I like the clacking noise their antlers make when they grapple xxx

  • After my first and hopefully last radiotherapy today I’m feeling the worst side effect they don’t tell you about; feeling blue.

what is it that causes endless tears when you just had a treatment that will hopefully reduce pain and help me get to the next step along the pathway.

I’ve got loads of thoughts in my head which are all thoughts of wonderful things that I could do with or without my Darling, to keep my active mind busy. But the teather to the hospitals and doctors damped any thoughts.

Is that it, frustration born out of delay, tests, new directions and forecasts, and appointments.

I lay in bed disturbing nobody and think about food, films, k-dramas, books I’ll not read, museums I’ll not see, and holidays trashed this year already and new plans trashed before they even get off the ground.

The nights before the therapy today have been great. Long sleeps and no nightmares. Tonight I doubt I’ll sleep at all. But I did have a great 3 hours earlier this afternoon when I got home. So how are you?

  • Good evening Mr U and a very warm welcome to our friendly group.

I'll tell you how I am right now - not too bad my friend, and certainly not as blue as yourself but I have felt that way, many times over the last year.

The good news is you managed a sound sleep earlier, but if you're anything like me that will probably put the kibosh on for getting in good one in anytime soon. But if you'd like to chat fire away. The trouble is I post on my phone, and there can be lengthy delays in replying, but if you can put up with it hopefully it'll be ok.
