Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Crikey Eddie! I don't envy you in the slightest and hope it's not windy. Safe chopper flight my friend xxx

  • Thanks Gilly it's a bit blowy but the pilots happy, as are the girls, I can't tell them as they'll all start swaying and bobbing up and down, xx

  • Here's hoping the pooches travel well too Fingers crossed

  • I wiggle my toes a lot and we walk most days if the weather's good.

Our appointments were cancelled anyway, the nurse is sick so we've rearranged for later in the month.

  • Eddie, it looks like I am the only person who didn't know where the Scilly Islands were!

For some reason I thought they were off the top of Scotland.  That's a CSE grade 2 for you!

  • Gill, the meeting with Bruce, my half brother last Thursday went well.  He's the spitting image of one of my siblings.  It felt like we had known each other for years.

I'm still on a high from the meeting.  It felt weird talking about 'our dad'.  I learnt some stuff I never knew.

I'd always been told about a possible 'German half brother' but never knew our dad had been stationed in Germany.  Now I know he was stationed in Geilenkirchen.  So the possibility still exists!!

Being called 'big brother' felt good.

  • Brilliant news Steve, and I'm really chuffed for you that it's turned out so well.Thumbsup

It's quite special how some can make an instant connection, especially when neither of you were aware the other even existed till last week. So, any more plans to meet up yet, or are you keeping in touch by social media? Exciting stuff either way.

That's an interesting one about the possibility of a German half bro; could Tracey make inroads with the ancestry thing? After what's happened so recently, I'd be badgering her like mad. Maybe start brushing up on the lingo.

    Auf wiedersehen pet xxx

  • No solid plans yet, but as Bruce lives in Seven Oaks, it will probably be a trip down there somewhere!

Hopefully Tracey might be able to look into the German records.  If we can get hold of our dad's RAF records, that would help.

We have a few 'questions' answered now, same with Bruce.  He'd only been aware of 1 brother and 1 sister.

They met up a year and a half ago, didn't mention me!  What B*******!!!  I know we don't keep in touch, but to deprive me of my half brother...  I would have told him about them!

    Anyway..."Bzzzzz...Bzzzzz...". That's me buzzing!!!
