Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Hahaha!  Oh Eddie, you do make me laugh!  Fame and fortune hasn't changed me, yet, but my autograph is available for a reasonable £10.  Talking of naps I've just come round from one myself, but swear I've been nowhere near Mull, honest guv'nor.

It's all quiet on the West Yorkshire front, but sort of looking forward to exercise tomorrow as we're going shopping after, all being well.  The 'shane' in question seems to have disappeared after posting this morning... maybe they weren't bona fide?  Ah well, so long as you're enjoying playing Cap'n Pugwash again that's the main thing, so anchors away me hearty!  Oh, a life on the ocean wave...etc xxx

  • Hi Gilly, regarding Wayne, he/his post is under review, and I  wasn't really worried about you, honestlyFearful, and I for 1 would gladly pay a tenner for your autograph, if it's a signed photoWink, and not you having a nap aswell, my aunties have gone for a nap also, being 82yo, isn't a good reason, so I'm all alone with my knitting craft, getting funny looks. Oooh I forgot your shopping for some things for Filey, do you have a date yet my friend, I do hope your luckier with the weather than we are, it's persisting it down here and going to be worse tomorrow, but we're not bothered, the boat, crew, scenery, fellow passengers,"what's left of them," but mostly my aunties are fab, have a lovely day tomorrow and say hi to LOH for me.

    love Eddie and family xx

  • A big thumbs up from LOH to you Eddie, and a nod to say hi back. I'm going to ask about Filey at the centre tomorrow, cos I need to arrange the dates, but I'll keep you informed. I did wonder about that poster, but try not to think some would post on a cancer site for nefarious reasons.  You never know.

Well it's getting windy here with the promise of rain, but I'm sure the 'tropical storm' won't spoil your gallivanting - just hold on to your knitting!  I wish LOH was arty crafty but he's all fingers and thumbs, so bang goes my artisan homespun throw.  I'll send a photo of Suzi Quatro, with my signature, as I used to get called that by my erstwhile school friends. Same haircut, small stature and big gob... that's where the resemblance ended.

Say hi to Jean and Joyce when they've come round, and worry not about the other passengers if they're seasick, as you'll be able to devour their rations of gruel and salt biscuits. Yum Yum Love from us xxx

  • Hi Helen (Sbird) You will enjoy retirement and wonder how you found time before to work! When is it, I’ve missed a lot of posts!

I haven't been in work since July last year but decided not to go back while we were away last month.

  • ThumbsupNice one H. I retired aged 55, then took up full time 'work' again exactly one year ago Sob xx

  • Well Gilly, another lovely dinner, no gruel or salt biscuits on the menu, and at the captains table, again?. I'm just so popular Relieved, or maybe it's because theirs just 6 passengers and 1 dining tableGrinning.

My guess with Wayne is he never understood the guidelines, I'm sure he's genuine, so hopefully he'll be posting again soon.

Awww, you should have said, my friend, I've been making patchwork quilts/throws, I would have been happy to make one for you, and I'm sure their's some craft LOH could turn his hands too.

I hope the weather's not as bad as forecast for you, when your out tomorrow, and find the clothes you're looking for, and get the dates for  Filey, thankfully we're safely moored up in Tobermory harbour, which is surprisingly calm.

Oooh a Suzi Q in leather lookalike, I'll have 2 posters please, and J&J, both blew you a kiss, their on the whisky sampling again, lol, I'll refrain after last night's issues.

love Eddie Jean and Joyce xx

  • Hi H, and welcome to the retired early club, I too was 55yo and it was the best decision I ever made.

    Eddie xx

  • I always chortle at your posts Eddie, and your remarks on the captain's table are no exception Joy Ooh, Tobermory is where the kids' show, Ballermory, was filmed I think, with all the coloured houses. I used to watch that with my eldest grandson when he was a bairn. It's lovely here just now Eddie; windy with rain beating on the window and it suits my ghoulish nature. Talking of which, did you know Suzi Q is about 75 now? I think I finally resemble her for real!

Anyway, hopefully the poster is genuine and comes back, and LOH hands can be very nimble, but only when clutching the remote for the telly!

So that's the secret elixir the two J's swig to keep their youthful bloom? Well I'll have to stick to pop, as the devil's brew is off limits - vits B12 and D are my vices of choice now.

Kisses blown back to J and J and a hug for you xxx

  • Ballermory was indeed filmed there, as the 1st  time we ever went to Tobermory, we were having a snack in the harbourside cafe, when we were asked to leave as they wanted to start filming, I declined, lol, I love the sound of rain too my friend, and the gentle swaying of the boat feels wonderful, it's a good cure for insomnia, it must be something akin to being rocked in the pram when you were young.

Well Gilly, Suzi Q looks fab today, so your exercises are working, what more motivation do you need, has LOH mastered the Sky remote yet, and did you ever find the fanzone commentary?, anyway J&J have, not so gracefully gone to bed, well they are on holiday, and I won't be long behind them.

Have a lovely day tomorrow, I know it's Friday already, and fingers crossed you get your dates for Filey, and your very wise to stick to your pop, far wiser than me, whatever that means.

    love Eddie, Jean,and Joyce xx

  • Good morning Bobby Shafto. Well it's not raining here right now, but plenty forecast for later with strong winds, so I hope it doesn't rock your boat too much up in glorious Mull.  Daft fun fact of the day: there's a Tobermory in Canada too, but I reckon ours is better.

I dunno about the exercises working that much, as I'm creaking and groaning like an old shipwreck! (The nautical references won't stop till you're back on terra firma.) LOH has indeed mastered the Sky remote with cunning dexterity, especially with navigating the buttons that produce sport and quiz shows. It's a pity he's not so dextrous when attempting to make cuppas, as spilled water and coffee and sugar granules are usually all over the worktop - that's why I insist on doing the honours. I'll get him up soon for breakfast and then it's off to the centre, so I'll take my shore leave and crack on.

Have a fab day me hearties and enjoy your rations - porridge, hardtack and a tot for breakfast.  Love to you all from us xxx
