Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Glad you are feeling better ShimmeringUnicorn.  I don't understand why people don't pick up after their dogs, it only takes a second to do.  I would never dream of not picking up after Chien.

  • From my observations, some dog walkers are on their phone whilst walking. The dog inspects interesting scents, pausing now and then, meanwhile the walker senses the pause without looking away from the phone. Of course occasionally there will be something to pick up! They are usually the younger generations. Then there's the elderly dog owners. They clearly adore each other but one or both may be having increasing difficulty with physical functions. The owner may not be able to stoop to pick up. They quickly glance around and will only make the effort if someone may have noticed the dog's performance. Finally, ignoring dogs running around off the lead, there's the couldn't give a damn types, some of whom actually believe that it gives some employees in the council a job!! The same people often toss litter out of car windows. xxx

  • Afternoon lion and welcome to the group. I hope you get a treatment plan soon and then be able to get some much needed sleep. I have had breast cancer myself 10 years ago. I got the all clear approx 6 years ago. Sending love and hugs.xxx

  • Good for you! I don't think I've used that word publicly. I reserve it for my vacuum cleaner which, instead of following obediently, sometimes decides to roll onto its back. I also used it on Skype (text) in response to my friend who announced he'd just been diagnosed with cancer. The single word said it all! I'd lost one good friend to cancer a few years earlier, then in 2017 another friend from that ex-college circle announced he'd got it, then the aforementioned friend from schooldays plus myself - all within months of each other. We compared notes in the following years. It's just the schoolfriend and myself left now. Different cancers and personalities but, like on here, the exchange of views on life, the universe and everything is very useful. xxx

  • Afternoon Ray. I was amazed at how many people there was at the hospital withit. The place was very busy. They say that 1 in every 2 people will get diagnosed with it. Hope you are keeping as well as you can be.xxx
