Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Had awful heartburn last night which is still there but not quite so bad.  Took ages to get some Gaviscon as the had to wait for the doctor to prescribe.  When it came, it felt like a small spoon...think I needed half a bottle!! Managed to get some more begire dropping off but had to sleep propped up!

Bit of a mystery...one if my Simba pillows has gone missing!! I had 2 and a hospital pillows but now there's only one! You can't lose anything in this room as it's not big enough so it's a real mystery! Night nurse has looked for it but it's not on the ward apparently!! xxx

  • Ermm...excuse me being a bit forward, but do you look unexpectedly expectant? Pillow may have sought warmth Grinning. xxx

  • Maybe that's what's causing the heartburn...I've eaten it!! RoflRofl xxx

  • That's got me imagining pillows made from marshmallow. Move to get more comfortable, take a bite out of the pillow, sleep some more. xxx

  • Has anyone checked the flat roof outside? Those drugs you are on can make you do strange things. xxx

  • RoflRofl I think they think I've gone bonkers!!

  • Right. Birthday boy or not, I'm going to waste the next 6 hours by sleeping, possibly with Garibaldi interventions. My Gaviscon will be at the ready next to the bed. God Moaning and good night for now. xxx

  • Mystery solved! Pillow was wedged under the mattress when the bed was put flat!! Had to lift the bed to get it out!! Squashed flat now! Nothing like a bit of drama at 6.30 am...my world is very small at the moment!! RoflRofl

  • Hopefully, the early risers will join for a chat soon Julie. Wishing you a more comfortable day with nice nurses and doctors to chat to - and ask them all about the pillow. Other wards and offices need to be searched, not to forget the tea trolly lady Grinning.  xxx

  • Lol. Brilliant. No need to endure lopsided sleep for a moment longer. xxx
