Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Hi Gill, Thank you for your kind words but the Forum is just not the same when you can’t get signed in or even see what others are talking about! It gets very frustrating to keep being told you have to “join” to sign in when I’ve been here so long, may be too long!

We are hoping to go to Salou on 27th Sept but it depends if we can get our insurance renewed with Vince (my husband) now also having multiple problems. We will be phoning round in the next couple of days, so I will let you know!

My family have lots of birthdays in August, so yes we did have several meals out, all of which were great. There are 5 family members with birthdays in August and on the 10th Aug this year my niece had her first baby, a boy, so that’s another one to celebrate!

I hope you managed to get some sleep! I will just say “Twit Twoo” for now!!

    Love Annette x

  • Morning all

Another fairly good night for me but I see some of you were chatting during the night.

I'm having a blood test this morning to check my liver function, no other plans.

  • Hi Annette

i’m glad to see you here again and really hope you don’t decide to quit altogether, although I understand your frustrations with the site.

As regards the thing with emails not showing the whole message so you can’t read it there, that is a change that’s had to be made to conform with online safety I believe, so that will be staying now. As for getting the messaging system back, there are appears to be no update yet on a timescale for this happening although I know that the question has been asked by other champs to the team quite often.

Other champs are reporting that members are not happy to have lost the pm capability and it has been out of action for quite a time now, but so far no idea of a timescale for it to be back. In the past I’ve exchanged email details by pm with people I wanted to communicate with elsewhere but we can’t even do that now. I’m not a fan of trusting methods other than email to send messages to others as unfortunately messaging systems on forums etc can have their issues and I prefer to be able to chat privately about certain things off the site altogether.

Let’s hope it comes back soon. It’s a big loss to the community for people not to be able to be in touch privately. Unless it is re instated, I can’t see any way to be able to pass email addresses to others as this forum is public so it’s against the community guidelines to do that.

But it’s very difficult when people have built bonds with others and now have that way of making contact disabled. I run a support group online which is secret, and I’m not allowed to link to it in the forum, so I can’t now provide my email to others by pm to let them know how they can join my group which is another frustration for me. My group is for women only and by its nature discusses private stuff related to surgery we’ve had which is not always something you can speak about in a public community like this.

But I hope you’ll stick with us Annette-you would be so missed if you left.

    Sarah xx

  • Thanks for your reply Annette.  Wow, lots of Leos and Virgos in your family, so no wonder you were partied out with all those birthdays to celebrate.  My mam's was August 12th; the glorious 12th my dad always said, because of the grouse shooting season.  Once I realised what he meant, I couldn't find anything glorious about shooting birds!

But anyway, I hope you manage to sort the insurance so you and Vince can get out to Spain, but personally I think it should be cheaper after suffering ill health.

Aye, I've been logged out several times over the last month, so they're not just picking on you, but keep your account even if you only bob in occasionally - please?  I must have conked out straight after sending you the post and didn't wake up till almost 7 o clock, so plenty of kip.

Fingers crossed the PM issue gets sorted soon, and big hugs wise owl xxx
