Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • I'm really sorry to hear that Sarah and condolences to you and yours.

We're doing ok thank you, and hubby's thrilled that he can now watch as much sport as he likes, from the comfort of the new chair.  Every little helps, as the saying goes.  Hugs xxx

Hi Debs. Thanks for your lovely and supportive post.

I have lots to say in reply but I don't want to be thought of as a miserable git so I won't go through it all. I did read all your post though and am grateful for the nice things you wrote.

    Hugs, Geoff. x

  • Thanks Gill-it’s hard even when you know it’s coming, so I’ve not really been inclined to posting these past few days.

Is this your recliner for hubby? Absolutely been the best things we’ve bought this year and I can’t imagine life without ours now-even the cat’s ok with going up and down now she’s used to them! Things which give us a boost are always worth it if they make our lives a little better.

  • Yes, the recliner's great for us both - a comfy viewing chair for H and much easier for myself as it's higher.  The constant up and downs I perform means I don't have to prise my creaking bones up now Joy xxx

  • Completely agree! Ours are very firm, so give nice support and it’s much easier to get up and down! We were staying with friends a couple of weeks ago and their sofas are very low and quite soft-I felt I needed a crane to get me up! Very embarrassing.

  • Haha!  Yep, we have that problem with low sofas and chairs.  We need to rock backwards and forwards to gain enough purchase to stand up!  We must look ridiculous but it's quite funny once we get to our feet.  Love that your little cat's enjoying yours xxxSmiley cat

  • I have to help John off my sofa Sarah. His father had the same muscle disease but it has progressed much faster in John.If I buy a new sofa I’d like him to test it out beforehand.xx

  • Will you need to buy new furniture when you move, Jane? Or will you take things from your current house? We sat on loads of sofas in the showroom before we made our decision, even though I’d seen it online and liked it the most. We wanted to be sure it gave us enough support mainly and it’s a big expenditure if you don’t get it right.  Is John still able to walk and get around? It must be incredibly difficult to live with something which isn’t going to get better.
